Annually, The Latino Hispanic American Community Center (LHACC) organizes two signature events “The Caribbean Luna Night” and “The LHACC Block Party”, where influential leaders from the region attend. Both events aim to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments achieved by the organization and the Hispanic cultural advancements in the area, as well as receiving donations to benefit the organization and Hispanic Latino American Community.
In the two events, several organizations participate and their respective sponsorships allow LHACC to offer diverse services to the most vulnerable population in our area, as our organization is the only bilingual Latino American Community Center in the Harrisburg area.
The services that LHACC offer vary, including assistance in translating documents to those who aren’t bilingual, filling out different applications, assisting and interpreting calls in Spanish. Our office has a community computer with internet, and we offer referrals to different organizations for food, clothing, housing, health, education, legal and immigration counseling and more. We also have a social worker on staff to attend to more vulnerable and delicate cases from the community.
The Block Party brings together the Harrisburg community to share and to learn about the Latino Hispanic culture. Enjoy live music played by local bands, watch cultural dances, taste traditional and typical Latino food sold by vendors, and participate in an all-day raffle, as well as different activities, games, and fun for all children.
The organizations that serve the Latino community have the opportunity to participate in the event. Examples of organizations that participate annually at the party are Hamilton Center, Highmark, as well as high schools, private businesses, and non-profit organizations among others.
Agencies and organizations have a great opportunity to connect with the community, integrating to work alongside LHACC to help and to make a difference.
Participate in our Caribbean night, with your best island evening wear (Hawaiian shirts, flowered print dresses and pants typical of the sea, (think gala party on the beach.) There will be decoration and music from the region and an exquisite dinner, accompanied by Caribbean cocktails.
The main objective of this fiesta is to raise funds for the following fiscal year, so we can keep providing support to the community. This can happen with your sponsorship!
