About us

Since LHACC opened in July 2010, it has served the community, through its culturally competent bilingual staff, offering information, referral and follow-up services and case management services.
In 2013, the United Way of the Capital Region, who had been instrumental in supporting LHACC’s development, designated LHACC as a United Way Partner Organization.
LHACC provides services that support basic human needs including food, clothing, and shelter. The organization also supports individuals with immigration matters, employment assistance, education needs such as GED and ESL, both physical and mental health services, intervention services including family relocation, domestic violence, scams, fraud, identify theft, and other legal matters; housing and tenant issues.

Gloria Merrick

"I thought—I’ve done a full circle back to where I was born, in my community where I grew up,” she said. “And now I’ll take everything that I’ve learned, everything that I did and all those skills, and bring them to fruition by way of working for the Latino Hispanic American community."
